Swashbuckler!: Why Vyse?

So, why make a shrine to Vyse?

Answer: I'm not quite sure.

I guess it mostly stems from the fact that there aren't many fansites out there for Skies of Arcadia in the first place, and the sites that are around focus mostly on game information and such. Not that that's a bad thing, but can get repetitive after awhile.

This lack of fan-created material was really disappointing for me, since one of the things that make a great game better (for me, anyway) is a healthy stock of fanstuff. I went nuts trying to ferret out fanfics, fanart, and other things that Final Fantasy fans had created in abundance. I found some of what I was looking for, but what I really wanted to find....didn't seem to exist: character shrines.

Character shrines are among my favorite websites.  When they're done well, they add a ton of depth and uniqueness to a character. Even if a shrine isn't done well, there's almost always something that makes it stick out--rare pictures, or nice fanart/fics, or maybe just a little rant on why the site owner likes that particular character.  The fact that Skies doesn't seem to have any character shrines makes me sad, since it's a wonderful game with very intriguing characters who deserve shrines in their honor.

So....that's why I made a shrine, as opposed to some other sort of website...but why one for Vyse?

Vyse is my absolute favorite character in Skies of Arcadia. After a very long time trying to write up an intelligent...something...explaining why, I scrapped the whole thing and wrote this instead:

Ten Reasons Why Everyone Should Love Vyse

10. Anyone who can wear spandex, knee high boots and a glass eyepatch, and not have people laugh at him, deserves respect.
9. Anyone who can look good wearing spandex, knee high boots and a glass eyepatch has MAD SKILLZ.
8. He has his very own battleship--not a sailing ship, mind you, but a BATTLESHIP--and base at 17. That takes MAD SKILLZ.
7. He inspires others.
6. He does the impossible on a regular basis.
5. He doesn't have to go out of his way to impress the opposite sex.
4. Manages to look both cute _and_ gorgeous at the _same_ _time_! How many people can pull that one off? You know what kind of people?  People with MAD SKILLZ.
3. Despite the fact that he saved the world and owns a super-huge base, I bet he still listens to his parents. Most people don't even do that when they live with their parents.
2. He's cheerful, but not annoyingly so.
